Orthopedic Surgery Without The Wait
For people requiring an orthopedic surgery, wait times in Canada can be prohibitive – as long as 3 years in some communities. Whether you require a hip replacement, knee replacement, arthroscopic knee surgery or ankle reconstruction, many patients have to wait if they are experiencing severe pain.
A serious concern is that Canada’s public healthcare system views many orthopedic surgeries, including a variety of different types of hip surgeries, knee replacement surgeries and hand, foot & ankle surgeries, as “elective” and therefore not eligible for accelerated care. This governmental view troubles the lives of many people on wait lists for such procedures who endure many weeks and months of pain and discomfort.
